Patheon Science and Translational Services (STS) creates innovative manufacturing and analytical platforms and technologies that can be applied in the production and testing of advanced therapies through Translational Services and expanded CDMO capabilities. The Molecular Biology Staff Scientist will play a key role in collaborating with colleagues to cultivate growth, drive innovation, and enhance customer engagement by supporting the leader of team.
How will you make an impact?
You will be responsible for supervising a best-in-class molecular biology lab in San Diego and supporting a Belgian site Mol Bio lab, providing strong mentorship and scientific oversight to internal team members. This role will drive molecular innovation and deliver molecular biology and analytical services.
You will stay up to date with technological trends and market dynamics to identify relevant opportunities critical for the development of STS processes and their subsequent application in GMP manufacturing. Additionally, you will be accountable for the growth and profitability of the STS Translational Services molecular biology business.
You will work closely with customers, team members, and cross-company partners to ensure compliance, develop collaboration, and facilitate technology transfer.
What will you do?
· Coordinate with leadership team members on scientific and operational matters.
· Facilitate Technical Transfer of process into the STS Molecular biology team and ensure success across departments and multiple sites.
· Communicate progress to the leadership and colleagues.
· Address and resolve technical issues
· Work with internal partners to facilitate successful project scope and manufacturability.
· Research and evaluate new technologies, identify and evaluate raw materials, read the literature, and identify innovative ways in consultation, and collaborators.
How will you get here?
Education:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, required
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
· A minimum of 4+ years hands-on experience in molecular biology, molecular virology, analytics, bacteriology, or relevant field.
· Focus on innovation and product development.
· Hands-on experience in designing and implementing multi-variable experiments to evaluate processes, analytical methods, and formulations.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to solve complex technical issues.
· Customer-facing technical experience desirable.
· Rational persuasion particularly across sites and in discussions with collaborative groups.
· Familiarity with ISO 9001 and GMP guidelines.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
· Ability to function in a dynamic environment & balance multiple priorities.
Need to work with the Central Europe time zone.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $113,500.00–$151,300.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
