Staff Semiconductor Engineer, mm Wave RF Design
We are Aptiv - a global technology company with 190,000 specialists in 46 countries. We develop innovative software and build the hardware to bring autonomous driving cars, advanced driver-assistance systems, connected vehicles and smart cities to life in a way that only we can. We work in partnership with almost all car manufacturers. Our sensors, systems and software can already be found in almost all passenger cars today.
With our deep domain expertise, Aptiv is developing solutions that solve our customers' toughest challenges. We are enabling the transition to software-defined vehicles supported by electrified and intelligently connected architectures – which will combine to power the future of mobility.
Aptiv’s custom silicon management group provides critical custom Silicon for all Aptiv products including Autonomous Driving, ADAS, Infotainment, Zonal Control, and others. This team translates the system requirements of Aptiv’s next-generation products into the SOC/IC requirements and architectural design, then manages the technical performance of external SOC/IC design partners who design the custom silicon SOCs/ICs for use in Aptiv’s products.
We are looking for RF/mm Wave Design engineers to work closely with multiple engineering teams who are focused on the development of Aptiv’s future generation of products.
This role is a remote position with expectation of working hours aligned with US East Coast time zone.
In This Role, You'll
Be part of a team of experienced semiconductor engineering teams to supervise and drive the implementation and productization of APTIV’s next generation of Radars, working with external suppliers.Work with the platform Architects to create mm Wave Radar architecture specification at system, sub system and block levelsWork with platform development teams to define chip level & IP features.Work with product development teams and external foundries to define & identify process node technologies and silicon technology features for APTIV’s future MMIC / SOC, based on best cost power and performance matrix.Working with product development teams and external suppliers, define the best packaging technology and suppliers for next generations of APTIV’s MMIC’s and SOC’s to meet the electrical and thermal requirements within cost/schedules.Develop system & device level, RF /analog/AMS simulation plan for MMICS.Actively participate in design review process with external vendors and design houses and internal development teams to ensure all the pre tape out simulation check list is completed.Working with external and internal development teams ensure a post silicon characterization is in place and executedUsing the silicon measurement vs simulation co relation provide clear feedback and guidelines to our vendors to ensure minimum amount of silicon iterations for future productsWork with our design partners and support them through the execution of the MMICS to ensure first-pass silicon success. As a Minimum We’d Like You To Have following technical qualifications and skills
Master's degree in electrical engineering with 7 years of experience or PhD with 2 years of experience, with focus on RF/mm Wave /analog designGood understanding of analog /RF design techniques to device levelGood understanding & experience of analog/RF simulation tools and methodologies. Small and large signal.Good experience of mixed mode simulation tools and methodologies. Experience of RF layout tools, and parasitic extraction.Hands on experience of at least one of the key sub systems: TX, RX, PLL/LO generation, and distribution. with experience of the following blocks appropriate to the subsystem:PA, LNA, Mixer, Frequency multipliers, VCO, ADC, PLL, Buffers. LO buffers/drivers, AGC amplifiers, bias generation, and distribution, basic Local LDO design, etc.A self-starter, team player and team worker who enjoys working with various external and internal partners to deliver best in class & differentiation IPs and productsIdeally we’d like you to have additional experience of
MMIC design for automotive Radar applicationSolid understanding of RF and EM modeling tools and methodologies from system to transistor levelSolid understanding of at least two silicon process technologies for mm wave design Good understanding of automotive radar products, technology, trends and use cases.Familiar with RF system modeling and link budget tools and methodologies.Hands on experience of RF measurement tools and techniques to mm Wave or Sub THzKeen eye on schedules, cost and quality of deliverablesHave a holistic view of the entire product, understanding the inter dependencies between various ingredients: SW/HW, package/silicon/boardStrong written and verbal communication skills.#LI-SV2
