Staff Software Development Engineer

Position Summary

Our company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have profound technical knowledge, aptitude for logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. As a software engineer on our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality software that meets business needs. You will build highly scalable microservices, event driven systems and real time streaming pipelines. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a deep understanding of software engineering principles.

Primary Responsibilities

· Designing and implementing complex software solutions for API's, microservices, CICD, real-time streaming pipelines etc... on cloud

· Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software systems that meet specifications and business requirements.

· Collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and design specifications.

· Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using best practices and design patterns.

· Perform unit testing, perform integration testing, and participate in code reviews.

· Lead software development projects by setting project goals, monitoring progress, tracking milestones, communication with stakeholders regarding project issues, and mentoring junior developers as needed.

· Manage relationships with clients, vendors, third-party solution providers, and other software engineering teams across different regions and time zone.

· Mentoring junior members of the team to develop their technical skills.

· Conduct research on emerging technologies, design principles, and development frameworks to ensure software solutions remain current, fresh, and future proof.

Required Qualifications

· 6+ years of relevant work experience in designing and building software applications with expertise in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, TypeScript, Go, as well as  the following:

Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)

Messaging systems like Apache Kafka, Rabbit MQ etc.

· Container Orchestration Frameworks like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm etc.

· Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

· Deep understanding of cloud technologies and architecture, software engineering principles such as algorithms, rules, data structures, etc.

· Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, Spinnaker, CircleCI or similar

· 6+ years of  experience in designing, developing, and deploying production-ready systems.


Preferred Qualifications

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.

· Ability to mentor and coach junior members of the team.

· Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail

· Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills· Familiarity with Real time streaming platforms like Kafka, Flink, Dataflow etc.

· Familiarity with Graph based Databases.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (Master’s is preferred)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $236,900.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
