**Position Overview:** Hidden Level is transforming airspace safety with innovative, scalable drone detection and airspace technology. We provide real-time, actionable data to enhance security across various environments. As we expand, we're looking for a Staff Software Engineer who has a proven track record of leading teams and deploying software products, and who is interested in solving challenging problems in Counter Unmanned Airborne Systems (C-UAS) and Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM). The ideal candidate will have experience working with radars and related sensor technology, an interest in UAS technology and 10+ years of professional experience in software development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated and driven team developing cutting-edge technologies that enable the safe integration of drones into everyday life and industry. **Location: Hybrid or on-site in the Syracuse, NY office.** **Responsibilities:** + Lead the design, development and oversee the lifecycle of software products. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, architect solutions, and implement features. + Serve as a technical advisor and mentor to engineering teams, providing guidance on architecture, coding standards, and development methodologies. + Drive the adoption of new technologies and processes to improve efficiency and quality. + Identify and address technical challenges, proposing innovative solutions to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability. + Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. + Implement security best practices throughout the development lifecycle to protect data and systems. + Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. + Lead initiatives to improve development processes, tools, and infrastructure, promoting automation and efficiency. **What We’re Looking For:** + Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring engineering teams. + Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and strategically. + Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. + Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies. **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with strong programming background. + 10+years of related professional experience. + Experience with architecting scalable cloud based systems in containerized environments. + Proficiency in developing on Linux-based operating systems + Expertise in C++ and Python application development + Strong experience with schema design and use of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB). + Experience working with sensor devices and building scalable IoT architectures. + Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices. + Experience with mobile app development. + 10% travel **Preferred Qualifications:** + Master’s degree. + Proficiency in developing on Ubuntu. + Experience with mobile app development. **Compensation and Benefits:** Hidden Level offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid parental leave, flexible time off, 401(k) with employer contributions, life insurance, disability insurance, and potential stock options. **Salary Range** : The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $132,000 to $169,000 annually.
