Staff Synthesis Chemist

Inpria Corporation, a subsidiary of JSR Corporation, has an immediate opening for a Staff Synthesis Chemist based in Corvallis, OR.  We seek an enthusiastic and conscientious candidate to join our diverse HVM Materials team contributing directly to our Manufacturing Operations by owning key synthesis methods to scale organometallic intermediates under the direction of highly experienced synthetic chemists.  At Inpria, your experience handling high-purity chemicals, performing organometallic syntheses, working knowledge of NMR, and interacting with other chemists will help fuel our company’s growth, support our key customers, and provide you with exciting career growth opportunities in a dynamic global industry.

Primary Responsibilities

• Safely execute organic and organometallic syntheses and separations under the direction of senior research chemists using defined protocols and procedures.

− Accurately calculate, measure, mix, and track multistep and multicomponent reactions and mixtures.

− Perform air-free (Schlenk and glove-box) addition, filtration, transfer and purification operations.

− Fractionally distill organic and organometallic species under high-vacuum to meet stringent purity specifications.

− Maintain batch and process documentation, including standard metrology results in conformance with internal BKMs and standards.

− Follow published SOPs, while seeking to identify process and safety improvements

• Conduct multinuclear NMR analysis on products, reagents, and intermediates

• Maintain a clean and safe lab workspace

• Assist EHS personnel in the development and documentation of SOPs, exposure monitoring protocols, and PPE requirements

Key Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or relevant related discipline

• At least one year of organic chemistry coursework, including laboratory work

• Organic / organometallic synthetic research experience preferred

• Track record of safe laboratory practices

• Active and effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills

• Self-motivated and proactive in achieving goals 

• Teamwork skills to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative manufacturing operations environment

• Physical ability to lift 20 lbs. overhead; walk and stand for extended periods; use keyboard and mouse for computer data analysis and presentation.
