Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join our System Engineering team. This position will be at our Propulsion Systems Division facility located in Promontory, UT with periodic assignments at our Bacchus (Magna) & Roy UT location.

We are excited for you to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the missile defense industry.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position will have dual roles, both developing MBSE standards as part of a functional homeroom and working within teams to directly implement them across programs.

As the leading manufacturer of solid rocket motor propulsion, this position will have responsibility for defining how MBSE can be applied to enhance production. This includes integrating manufacturing and quality engineering perspectives with design, modeling the manufacturing process flow and associated requirements, controls, data, and inspections. A digital twin will be created for each production unit that is delivered with the physical hardware. Manufacturing data will be structured in the model for variance and trend analysis, creating better understanding of manufacturing controls and capabilities, reducing defects and informing future design improvements.

Propulsion Systems provides critical on-going support of delivered product to government customers for monitoring the health of fielded strategic assets to ensure mission readiness. This position will have responsibility for defining how MBSE can be applied to enable better reliability and service life predictions. Informed by aging and surveillance program plans, large amounts of test data will be managed and incorporated into automated analysis suites to provide continuously updated individual motor and fleet predictions.

As a provider of solid rocket motor solutions to a variety of prime integrators, our customers are requiring increasing MBSE integrations as the industry pursues digital modernization strategies. This position will have responsibility for defining how to interface and/or integrate our models with customer models. This includes flow down of requirements, design constraints, interfaces, loads and environments, etc. It includes data management where interactions and dependencies exist in iterative workflows between motor, vehicle, and launch infrastructure. It also includes flow up of verification results from test, analysis, and production data.

The ideal candidate will be able to lead implementation of these solutions and coach other SEs to build their capabilities for leading.
