Position Overview:

Our client is transforming airspace safety with innovative, scalable drone detection and airspace technology. They provide real-time, actionable data to enhance security across various environments. They are seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to lead internal product development and customer integration and adoption activities. This will be achieved through the analysis and support of sensor systems at each stage in the product lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities: Design and implement algorithms and analysis methods and tools for radar, direction finding, or other surveillance sensor systems Lead the development of system architecture for new hardware designs Organize and participate in design reviews Collaborate with Software, Systems, Digital, and RF engineers to advance overall product capabilities Play an active role in the validation and verification of both design and system-level capabilities Provide professional mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams What We’re Looking For: A desire to own project assignments and work creatively and collaboratively on cross-disciplinary teams to deliver solutions that impress customers and advance the industry An open-minded approach to solving challenges, with proactive development of backup plans to ensure the team meets goals even when encountering the unexpected A mindset focused on long-term goals and objectives, balanced with demonstrable incremental progress to keep pace with industry demands Excellent written and verbal communication skills to efficiently convey complex ideas, coupled with an ability to listen, question, and understand stakeholder needs Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field 10+ years of professional experience Extensive knowledge of: Radar and/or communication systems using software-defined radios, custom hardware, and/or other COTS devices State estimation, data fusion, and Kalman filtering techniques and their implementation in tracking algorithms Sensor performance modeling and simulation Digital signal processing Analytical programming platforms such as MATLAB or Python Ability to travel 10%

This position is based in the Syracuse, NY office, with the potential for hybrid arrangements.

Compensation and Benefits:

Our client offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid parental leave, flexible time off, 401(k) with employer contributions, potential stock options, life insurance, and disability insurance.

Salary Range: The anticipated salary range for this position, based out of Syracuse, NY, is estimated at $132,000 to $170,000 annually. Please note that salary information is a general guideline only. The client considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market/business considerations when extending an offer.
