Staff Technical Program Manager, Release Management

Role Summary Join us in advancing the future of electric vehicles at Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies by playing an essential role in managing the software releases that improve the everyday experience for our customers. As part of the Software Release Management team, you will lead the coordination of the delivery of monthly software updates over-the-air (OTA) to our customers. This role involves collaborating with software development, integration, and validation teams to help ensure smooth delivery of new software releases across multiple programs and variants. Responsibilities Support cross-functional teams in scoping and meeting the release milestones for monthly customer release OTA updates, ensuring different vehicle variants and options as well as dependencies between teams are mapped out and considered. Assist technical leads in listing and prioritizing bugs/features for inclusion in each release, helping to mitigate technical risk, complexity, and delivery milestones. Moderate technical discussions and help teams come to a mutual decision. Consolidate important information for informed decision making of the senior leadership. Contribute to the assessment of release readiness by moderating Go/No-Go meetings, improving processes and metrics for tracking release readiness, making dashboards, and ensuring different test teams have completed and reported their test results. Act as the liaison between the system integration and program management teams by providing regular updates to the program team on release progress, assisting with identifying potential release blockers and helping to ensure timely communication and escalation. Assist in escalating issues if deliverables are at risk of missing deadlines, and support mitigation strategies to stay on track. Proactively identify blockers and risks to prevent delays, helping to maintain software quality throughout the process. Support process and efficiency improvements by contributing ideas and implementing changes based on feedback from various stakeholders. Work with the Technical Writing team and leadership to generate the release notes for each customer release across all variants. Help the program management team with the quarterly planning activities, incorporating feedback from the release management team to ensure feature development and technical debt activities are properly balanced. Qualifications BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 3+ years of relevant experience. 5+ years of experience in Technical or Engineering Program Management. Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle, from user story creation to validation. Understanding of Software Defined Vehicle architectures and systems. Experience with iterative test and validation strategies. Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Comfortable working with agile development processes using Jira and other program management tools. Experience supporting software development project planning, progress tracking, and risk management. Ability to navigate ambiguity and be open to make changes to the previously established plans. Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $167,400 - $209,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
