Stakeholder Engagement Specialist
The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Digital Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) communications team. The communications team is a creative, high-performing team at the Energy Department, and leads campaigns to support the rapid adoption of solar energy across the country to achieve 100% clean energy. The position is based in Washington D.C. and the office follows a hybrid work schedule. This communications role is responsible for developing communications strategies and content and analyzing the results of those efforts. Using a variety of tactics and strategies, this person will elevate awareness of office activities to internal and external stakeholders. The position requires collaboration with technical managers, program managers, and National Laboratories to identify solar research achievements that can be conveyed through various communication channels. The Digital Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist will be part of a team that helps communicate the office’s mission, activities, and goals externally and internally. Examples of the team’s work include the Solar Futures Study launch, the Connect the Dots on Solar Energy campaign, and the Hit Me With Your Sun Shot photo competition.  Writing and editing communications materials, blog posts, success stories, etc. Strategic communications planning Stakeholder engagement and planning Data tracking and reporting Web strategy and management Candidates should demonstrate how they have contributed to integrated communications campaigns, have proven their ability to coordinate and communicate with a diverse group of people, and have demonstrated an interest in environmental, energy, or related issues. A master’s degree and experience in energy, environmental, or scientific field is preferred. Seniority and responsibilities will be based on experience.  Qualifications include the ability to work as part of a team in a diverse group of technical and non-technical staff, to track and manage tasks, and to develop creative strategies to set and achieve goals. The candidate must be a self-starter and will need to manage competing priorities and respond to tight deadlines in a bureaucratic environment.
