SUMMARY
Grand Sierra Resort & Casino is looking for an energetic and guest service minded individual to join the Food and Beverage team as a Lead Barista. The Lead Barista guarantees guests are served in a warm, accommodating, and professional manner, ensuring total guest satisfaction. The Barista promotes coffee consumption by educating guests; selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies. Answers questions, stocks retail areas when needed while performing cashiering duties. Organizes and maintains proper appearance of the Barista area. Guarantees prompt, courteous and team minded service throughout the entire department and adhere to all Grand Sierra Resort standards. Assists the Starbucks Manager in training and overseeing the Starbucks team, ensuring the team is up to standards and performing their assigned duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Welcomes guests by determining their coffee interests and needs. Educates guests by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions. Sells coffees and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates. Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, expresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino. Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar. Advises Manager of inventory and par levels, assisting with placing orders as needed. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Ensures Manager is aware of any repairs or equipment issues. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations. Ensures staff is also following safety standards. Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar. Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Trains new Baristas and ensures they are following Starbucks and company service standards. Assists the Manager in coaching team members and assigning work/tasks; gives feedback on Team Member performance to the Manager. Creates deployment plans for business needs by assigning Baristas to positions and creates break schedules. Puts away orders daily. Assists Manager with refunds/voids. Assists Manager with communications to team and upper management (Promotions, Shift Notes, etc.). Completes required certifications through Starbucks (Barista Basics, Barista Training, and Daily Operations). Assigns daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks to Baristas and participates in these cleaning tasks. Assists with monthly breakdown of store for deep cleaning. Assists Manager with preparing for seasonal launches. Assists Manager with other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Candidate must possess the ability to deal with guests and co-workers in a tactful and respectful manner. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests, train Team Members, and assist the Manager. Possess excellent communication skills, both in written and oral form, in order to effectively train and coach other team members. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving, and organizational skills are a must. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Dedicated to meeting and/or exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external clients. Trusted and is seen as a truthful individual who is highly respectful of others. One year Barista experience required. High School Diploma or GED required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with guests, management, team members and others. Is regularly required to sit; stand; walk and move through all areas of the casino; speak and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel. May reach with hands and arms above shoulder level; bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull. The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
