This position serves as the first line professional manager of the Child Welfare Permanency and Wellbeing Unit. Responsibilities include management of unit staff; setting unit priorities; conducting and participating in various workgroups, meetings, and committees; directing internal and external work assignments; and collaborating with external partners to support the mission and goals of the unit. The position is responsible for identifying and coordinating the activities needed to build a case practice model that is responsive to the health needs of children in foster care and provide services to support families and caregivers. Responsibilities include developing protocols and policies to specify the timing and scope of children’s health assessments and mental health screenings, facilitate access, coordinate care, support caregivers and provide oversight of psychotropic medications and to ensure and analyze the tracking of such. Responsibilities include developing protocols and policies to ensure children in foster care can achieve permanency timely. Responsibilities include collaboration with other state departments, internal bureaus and units and private providers to develop programming, resources and placements that offer needed treatment to children and families while pursuing permanency. Responsibilities include tracking and required reporting of health care services, mental health services, permanency outcomes and barriers to permanency achievement for children in foster care as well as, providing support to local office and private agency staff to increase compliance with outcomes.
