Within TSG, the State Local Tax team helps clients compete and succeed by staying up-to-date on the ever-changing, complex state and local tax rules. These business advisors specialize in solutions that span income tax, indirect tax, property tax, and tax controversy matters. Responsibilities:

Assist with management of clients and their needsPerform technical review of partnership and corporate state tax returns and work papers with attention to multistate tax issues such as apportionment, state modifications, state credits, nexus, method of filings, and flow-through taxationAssist with various tax consulting projects including research and writing projects related to tax planning, nexus studies, voluntary disclosure applications, audit defense, and penalty abatementAnalyze taxpayer data and be able to identify opportunities for prospects and clientsKeep up to date on state and local tax law changesParticipate in business development activities as neededDevelop internal relationships within the firm and help grow external branding

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; emphasis in accounting preferredAdvanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD and/or LLM is a plusCPA, JD, or LLM Taxation preferredMinimum of 2 years of related tax experience required; public accounting experienced preferredPrevious experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues preferredPrevious experience performing multi-state tax compliance work preferredExperience in state and local government revenue department preferredExperience with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis Excellent verbal and written communication skillsCreative problem solving and research skillsAble to work effectively both as part of a team and independentlyAble to handle multiple priorities, tasks and simultaneous projectsProficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Willingness and ability to travel up to 35%
