Duties Description Position Information:Do you want to work at the most exciting venue in New York State? Look no further! The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking several State Fair Workers to be part of their Events Staff at the Great New York State Fair! These Event Staff positions are part of a 24/7 operation, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of event facilities on the New York State Fairgrounds. Duties include maintaining the floors; washing windows; emptying trash and recycling bins and ensuring the proper disposal of waste. These positions also replenish supplies in restrooms and manage the operation of event building systems, including unlocking doors, and controlling lighting and HVAC settings. They maintain the outdoors by shoveling snow, spreading ice-melt on walkways, using leaf blowers, and clearing barn stalls post-events. Additionally, these positions set up and transport furniture and equipment, such as tables, chairs, picnic benches, and barricades in preparation for special events and meetings. Acting as the direct point of contact for event promoters, the Event Staff will cater to various event-related needs as they arise.

Candidates must have the physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. This position is not tenure-bearing.
