We are looking for a State Government Relations & Public Affairs Lead who is self-motivated, patient-centric, and innovative to join us in our Corporate Affairs Team. This hybrid role, based in Atlanta, Georgia, will cover the Southeastern United States including but not limited to the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee  . The role requires up to 20% travel to existing UCB sites domestically as well as state capital cities in the United States.

 

About the Role
You will be responsible for improving access for patients on our therapies by identifying, prioritizing, and delivering results on company-wide state-level activities and initiatives to influence public policy for UCB. You will develop and coordinate cross-functional UCB teams and represent UCB in industry organizations and with government officials, policymakers, and key healthcare and industry thought leaders.

 

Who You’ll Work With
Externally, you will work with legislative and public policy stakeholders, including policymakers and state legislators, governor’s office, and associated legislative and administrative staff, as well as trade association partners. You will also represent UCB in the community through various trade association leadership posts and community groups. Internally, you will work with field leadership and sales teams, market access partners, site leadership at the Atlanta headquarters campus and Corporate Affairs.

 

What You’ll Do

Manage state government relations within assigned statesSupervise local lobbying counsel, manage patient advocacy groupsCollaborate with field leadership, sales teams, and corporate partnersDevelop and execute strategies to advance legislative policiesMonitor and track relevant state legislative and policy issuesCreate background and communication materials for audiencesImplement lobbying and stakeholder-specific campaignsUnderstand and build relationships with key business leadersEngage with UCB facilities, including employee programming  Participate in political events for state legislative and constitutional office

 

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

Bachelor’s degree required; MS, MPH, MPP, JD, or MSc preferredThree years in state-based biopharmaceutical policy requiredExperience in government relations at state or federal level is requiredExperience coordinating political action committees is required Senior Manager: Three years of experience requiredAssociate Director: Seven+ years of experience requiredTrade association experience is requiredHealthcare experience is required, pharmaceutical experience is preferredFive years in analysis, writing, and public policy documents

 

The reasonably anticipated salary range for this position is $141,800 to 186,100 per year. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on  the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
