Responsibilities

The incumbent ensures the proper operation and maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, distribution lines for steam, hot water, plumbing, electricity refrigeration, sanitation for hospital and Medical Office buildings. Responds rapidly to emergency situations, including fire, and disruptions of above stated utilities. May access medication storage areas in accordance with their job function and hospital policy.

Accurately takes readings and makes mechanical rounds checks within time frame. Reports any discrepancies immediately to supervisor. 
Completes preventative maintenance work orders per standard indicated on work order 
Understands and operates emergency generators and related switch-gear per Regulatory Standards. 
Consistently practices the safe operation of equipment and uses all safety equipment as appropriate 
Demonstrates and exercises the necessary skills to properly operate and maintain all related HVAC equipment 
Demonstrates and exercises the necessary skills to operate and maintain all related boiler operations and equipment, including fuel switching 
Demonstrates and exercises the necessary skills to enter and extract correct information from the computer system and related programs 

Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities, shall seek guidance when in doubt, promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct, Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations and when requested, assist Dignity Health personnel in investigating all allegations of violation. Incumbents shall refrain from involvement in illegal, unethical or otherwise improper acts, and understand and accept consequences for failure to comply with Dignity Health Standards of Conduct. Incumbents shall meet training requirements within designated timelines assigned. When called upon, incumbents shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement, monitor and mitigate risk corrective plans outlined by the Compliance program.


Qualifications

Minimum

4 years experience (with 2 years in a hospital setting) in building engineering and maintenance CT REFRIGValid California state driver's license with no moving violations in the two prior years

Maintains and repairs the following systems: Boiler systems and related equipment, HVAC systems and related equipment, Pneumatic controls, Water distribution systems, Fire alarm systems, Nurse Call systems, Electrical distribution systems, Medical gas systems, Computer systems.
