Stationary Engineer
Job Summary Details: The Stationary Engineer (Door Mechanic) is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of door systems and related mechanical equipment within a large, complex, or multi-faceted facility. This role ensures that all doors, locks, and associated mechanisms are functioning optimally, safely, and in compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards.  
 

Pay: $69.52/hour

The pay listed is the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Key Responsibilities:  

Operate and monitor mechanical door systems, including automatic doors, garage doors, and access control systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety.   Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on door operators, locks, hinges, closers, and related components.   Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to door malfunctions or system failures to minimize downtime and ensure secure access.   Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and ensuring door systems function according to regulatory standards.   Record daily operational data, log maintenance activities, and document repairs and inspections in accordance with company policies.   Collaborate with other team members to support facility-wide maintenance and operations.   Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental, and regulatory requirements concerning the operation and maintenance of door and access systems.   Respond to emergency situations, such as door failures or security breaches, performing quick and efficient repairs.   Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies related to door systems and assist with ordering and stocking as necessary.   Conduct regular inspections of door systems and mechanisms, identifying potential issues before they lead to malfunctions or security concerns.   Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance programs to increase system longevity and efficiency.  

 

Qualifications:  

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or training in door mechanics, stationary engineering, or a related field preferred.   Previous experience in door mechanics, locksmithing, or maintenance of door systems and mechanical components.   Strong knowledge of mechanical door operators, locks, security systems, and access control technologies.   Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical door systems.   Familiarity with safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory compliance standards.   Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.   Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.   Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary.   Certification in door mechanics, locksmithing, or related fields preferred.  

 

Physical Requirements:  

Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment or tools, sometimes up to [specify weight].   Ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy, etc.).   Capability to work on ladders, rooftops, or in confined spaces as necessary.
