Stationary Engineer - Postal Square (Part-time)
**IMAQ has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Stationary Engineer for our Government contract site at the Postal Square Building in Washington, D.C.** **Position Summary:** The Stationary Engineer is assigned to serve in the Postal Square Federal Government building and perform duties associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning and heating equipment. Work is performed under the supervision and guidance of the Chief Engineer, who will assign the work, make reviews and inspections of the work performed and will provide technical advice and assistance in the performance of all other assigned duties. Specific instructions will be furnished on all assignments, except routine and unskilled repetitive tasks. Written guidelines will consist of “Watches,” “Tours,” “Preventive Maintenance” guides, manufacturers’ operations and repair manuals, and any applicable directives and instructions. Under the technical guidance of the Chief Engineer, the Stationary Engineer operates mechanical/electrical equipment and machinery on an assigned watch, tours the building and operating machinery, completes repairs, or performs Preventive Maintenance functions. **Primary Duties:** + Make adjustments and minor repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment and component parts of heating and air-conditioning systems and auxiliary support equipment. + Make physical inspections of equipment and tests equipment for correct operation of all components of the refrigeration cycle and other relevant factors contributing to the proper and efficient operation of HVAC systems. + Conducts physical inspections of equipment and performs such tasks as oiling and greasing, testing for refrigerant leaks, proper functioning of controls, and determines when auxiliary system components need to be brought “on-line” to maximize equipment load balance and to maintain acceptable indoor environmental conditions. + Engages in observing and testing this equipment for correct operation of all components of the refrigeration cycle and other relevant factors contributing to the proper and efficient operation of the heating and air-conditioning systems. + Perform repairs to ventilating, refrigeration, and heating equipment and components. + Check steam pressure reducing stations, vacuum pumps and sump pumps. + Answer occupant complaints relating to heating and air-conditioning temperature and humidity factors when performing “service calls” in occupied office spaces, and makes other required adjustments to equipment. + Performs other related duties, as assigned. **Qualifications:** + Education - Minimum of a High School Diploma + Possess a minimum of a 3rd Class Engineering license for the District of Columbia + A minimum of 3 years of prior experience as a 3rd Class Engineer in a large facility similar in the size and scope of Postal Square (750,000+ square feet) + Must have in-depth skill and knowledge in HVAC systems. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on all operational and mechanical equipment and knowledge to operate related electrical equipment and machinery is required. **_As a Federal Contract Employer, KOMAN Families of Companies follows Federal Laws as it pertains to drug testing.
