STEAM Associate Teacher
Rye Country Day School is seeking a STEAM Associate Teacher starting in August 2025. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. The Associate Teacher program is designed to give beginning teachers an opportunity to work with lead STEAM teachers for two years while concurrently earning a Masters degree. The STEAM Associate Teacher will play an integral role in supporting and expanding the school’s STEAM initiatives and incorporating CBL (Competency Based Learning) into curriculum while gaining valuable experience in teaching, makerspace management, and curricular development. This assistant position is an excellent opportunity for aspiring educators to immerse themselves in STEAM education, contribute meaningfully to innovative programming, and gain hands-on experience in a supportive, collaborative environment. Responsibilities: Support for STEAM Extra-Curricular Programs: ○Assist in organizing and supporting programs such as: + Lower, Middle, and Upper School Robotics - Coaching and Tournaments + WISE (Women in STEM Enrichment) + STEAM Competition Teams (Olympiad, Oceanography, YPT, etc.) + STEAM-based mini camps and clubs + SWAT (Students Wanting to Advance Technology) Teaching and Co-Teaching and Curricular Integration: + Co-teach STEAM classes as needed. + Collaborate with faculty across departments to integrate STEAM concepts into the curriculum. + Assist in developing new STEAM courses or rebranding current electives to reflect STEAM priorities. Makerspace and Shop Responsibilities: + Learn to use makerspace and shop equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and other tools. + Assist with classes and apprenticeship programs after a training period. + Provide project support, including preparing materials for classes and special projects for admissions or development. + Assist with materials management, including inventory and ordering. + Provide after-school makerspace supervision and support. Professional Development: + Observe STEAM classes and teachers in makerspace to learn project facilitation techniques. + Collaborate closely with the STEAM Director. Additional Responsibilities: + Perform other duties as designated by the STEAM Director. Desired Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM, or a related field. + Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. + Genuine enthusiasm for working with students, faculty, staff, and parents. + Willingness to learn new skills in the makerspace and robotics. + Strong desire to contribute to a collaborative and innovative STEAM program.
