About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

We are seeking a Steelwork Engineer to support the Hinkley Point C Project. The Engineer is the technical lead reviewing and accepting the changes to the design raised by the site contractor, responsible for managing interfaces between the construction contractors and the designers. You will have a working knowledge of steel design codes such as Eurocode 3. We will value your existing skills and experience while providing the opportunity to work closely with the JDO Design Team and Construction team to maintain the technical quality of responses and construction safety. Key responsibilities will be\:

The approval of design changes proposed by the contractor or designer through Request for Information, field Change Request or Non-Conformance Report. Support the JDO in the handover of Design Packages released for construction and initiated the delegated responsibilities through this process. Ensure that processes comply with project quality procedures. Management of CDM aspects relating to the design changes during the construction period, including discharging the role of principle designer. Responsible for the nuclear safety acceptance of the design by carrying out surveillance on the design changes during construction. Safety case/golden thread\: in the review and acceptance process, ensure the high-level safety case and the design have a clear golden thread to support operations. *

Knowledge about Eurocode, specially EC3. Structural Drawings and Models Handling. Working knowledge of Steel design codes. Design with hazard & accidental safety cases. Working within UK CDM regulations and in a highly regulated industry. Delivery-oriented and ability to set action plans and meet deadlines. Proactive, pragmatic and adopting a practical approach to resolve issues.
