This role focuses on activities related to the support services functions, such as dietary and food services, environmental services, general facilities, repair and maintenance, parking, sterilization and transportation to ensure all required support activities are completed in a timely manner and meet the organization's quality standards and expectations. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Sterilization Services duties: Maintains sterile equipment, assembles medical equipment, maintains inventory, orders supplies, and provides life-saving instruments to those performing medical procedures. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. An entry-level role typically requiring little to no prior knowledge or experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Work is routine or follows standard procedures, is closely supervised, and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.

This position performs routine sterilization tasks within the Central Processing Department (CPD) and Operating Room (OR).
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Answers CPD phones and caters to the requests of the OR and outpatient clinics.
2. Loads and unloads the cart washer, and unloads the instrument washer racks.
3. Assists with opening daily packages for CPD and delivers items to the appropriate location/personnel.
4. Stocks work stations with supplies.
5. Restocks instrument and scope brushes in all areas of CPD as needed.
6. Assists the Case Cart Coordinator in managing case picks and pushing case carts to/from the OR.
7. Assists in the pickup/delivery of instruments to/from outpatient clinics and LDR as needed.
8. Assists in the receiving and stocking of the daily towel delivery from the Linen Department.
9. Performs routine cleaning tasks within the department, such as wiping down work stations, cleaning stainless steel, dusting, dry mopping, etc.
Physical Requirements:
1. Involves large amount of time walking and standing, routine lifting of objects weighing up to 25lbs, and pushing/pulling case carts weighing over 100lbs.
2. Routine contact with caustic materials used in cleaning and disinfection, and with infectious material.
3. High level of noise, heat and humidity due to sterilization processes.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, the operating room and outpatient clinics in English.
2. Ability to understand and follow different forms of written and verbal communication.
3. Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
4. Ability to be flexible and to adapt to the needs of CPD and the OR.
5. Ability to remain physically active throughout the duration of the work day.
6. Knowledge of medical terminology.
