Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
The Sterile Processing Manager will have oversight for all activates associated with the VHC Health System Sterile Processing department. This responsibility includes the management of instruments and supplies provided by CSP, the delivery of sterile supplies and equipment to the Operating Room locations, and all other associated departments throughout the health system.
The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for the fiscal management of the department, through a constant vigilance in maintaining and establishing par levels for supplies, instruments, and equipment. Will assist each service line in seeking competitive bids from vendors, recommend contracts and consignments, and monitor all purchases. Variances must be tracked and reported each month.
Ensures that CSP functions operate within regulatory guidelines for infection prevention, and regulatory inspections and surveys.
Works as a liaison to the operating room staff and service line coordinators for the CSP department. Leads process improvement initiatives for CSP related workflows, hospital initiatives, improving patient safety, and customer service.
Supports and/or covers as acting leader for the Director of CSP as needed.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
Five years of experience in sterile processing or in operating room is preferred.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Certification in central sterile processing is to be obtained within 12 months.
