Sterile Processing Specialist
The Sterile Processing Specialist is responsible for properly sterilizing medical equipment and instruments in order to comply with safety standards and provide quality patient care. Working under close supervision, this role also supports in ensuring that decontamination procedures follow appropriate policies and any sterilization malfunctions are reported effectively.

Sterilizes instrument sets, trays, and packages items correctly in order to ensure safe patient care.
Cleans and decontaminates instruments and equipment according to department policies and manufacturer's recommendations while using standard precautions procedures to ensure safety.
Uses standard precautions in handling contaminated items or instruments and applies hazardous waste policies as needed.
Inspects and assembles instruments to ensure patient safety and in accordance with sterilization requirements.
Removes instruments found to be defective, broken or missing components.
Helps report any positive results or sterilization malfunctions to appropriate leadership in a timely manner to ensure a proper resolution.
Returns and restocks all unused sterile instruments to their appropriate location to facilitate future usage.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Will accept any one of the following credentials upon hire (must be maintained without a lapse in time): Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), or Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT)
