Position Title: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) Surgical Services
Position Description: Unit: Supply Chain Central Sterile SPT Start: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks Schedule: 5x8hr NIGHTS 1900-0330 Certs/Licenses: BLS CBSPD IAHCSMM Preferred Skills: Minimum Experience Required: 3 or more years/Scope Room HLD Scope Processing Experience First Time Travelers Accepted *Float: might float within system *Weekends: every third weekend *Scrubs: provided Shift Info: Night 5×8-Hour 19:00 – 03:30
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible fordecontamination, assembly of linen packs, operation of steam, ETO and otherforms of sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains adequateinventory for assembly of instruments and equipment and performs multiple tasksthat assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsiblefor customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Extensive knowledge regarding processes used in thedecontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging ofmedical/surgical material to include, but not limited to, linen, instrumentsand equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterileand functioning supply of materials Prepares trays for designated areas according to prescribedprocedures Wraps and/or packages items for specified areas according toprocedures prescribed for designated areas Must be able to operate bar code instrument tracking system Works with operating room personnel to ensure specialtytrays are handled in the prescribed manner Dissembles, cleans, assembles and tests specialtyinstrumentation and equipment for proper functioning Must be able to differentiate between single-use andreusable items Maintains inventory of supplies and materials to includedocumenting usage, issuing, receiving and reordering as assigned Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies andprocedures Performs other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent? Certification as required by state regulations or contractspecifications? Certification for sterile processing technicians by theInternational Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management(IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution(CBSPD) may be required One (1) year of experience in sterile processing preferred?
