Job Description
The Sterile Processing Technician ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections by preparing, sterilizing, installing, assembling, or cleaning all surgical or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures.
ResponsibilitiesWear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).Clean all work surfaces prior to processing and clean up work area throughout the day and at the end of the day.Restock supplies.Complete washer and sonic tests.Ready sterilizers, perform warm-up, and test at the start of the day.Perform equipment cleaning or disinfecting at scheduled times.Record temperatures and humidity.Fill surgical case carts with needed items.Rotate instruments and put away sterile sets.Empty the cart wash and send carts to appropriate areas.Check all instruments for quality and quantity.Assemble instruments and wrap appropriately for sterilization.Follow all safety procedures and follow IFU (Instructions for Use).Load the sterilizer in a manner conducive to the best sterilization process, and as they are ready for sterilization.Complete the appropriate biological testing for sterilizers.Document appropriately.Maintain standards of service excellence and set a positive example for all surgical staff, patients, families, and visitors.Essential SkillsSterile processingSterilizationCentral Sterile ProcessingSurgical instrumentationCleanroomDecontaminationAdditional Skills & QualificationsNo certification required initially - must obtain Sterile Processing Certification within 1 year of employmentWork Environment

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00
