Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for collecting, decontaminating, and sterilizing medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. This role includes manually cleaning supplies, operating decontamination and sterilization equipment, and ensuring all instruments are properly sanitized and prepared for use in medical procedures. The technician will also test and report any issues with sterilization equipment.

ResponsibilitiesCollect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.Manually clean supplies of contaminants and remove waste matter.Operate and maintain decontamination equipment.Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization.Monitor and operate sterilization equipment.Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.Test and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.Sterilize, prepare, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.Essential SkillsKnowledge of sterilization processes and equipment.Experience with surgical instrumentation and sterile processing.Sterile Processing Technician license/certificate.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Experience in ambulatory, outpatient, and operating room settings.Proficiency in decontamination and aseptic techniques.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma.Preferred certification in sterile processing (preferred but not required with relevant experience).At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.Flexible and reliable with the ability to handle a busy and fast-paced environment.Experience in OR, outpatient, or ambulatory settings (not from a dental office).Work Environment

This position requires working Monday through Friday with four 9-hour shifts. Shift times may vary, including 11:30 am to 8:00 pm or 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. The work environment is fast-paced with a constant flow of tasks, processing 15 to 30 cases/trays a day depending on the workload. The number of trays sterilized depends on the day's activity, with some days being busier than others.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00
