**Sterile Processing Technician** Fulltime Day position 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. with rotation when needed/weekend rotation AFSCME union Posted: February 19, 2025 **Responsibilities:** + Cleans and restocks CPR carts. + Performs all duties according to department policies and procedures. + Operates all departmental equipment and performs operator maintenance. + Performs all assigned clerical duties, such as answering the telephone, recording of messages, and maintenance of records. + Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and working order for the Operating Room, OB, and other departments. + Maintains working knowledge of all products in stock and their appropriate locations. + Prepares and assembles special items, trays, and packs to meet stated needs of all hospital departments. + Prepares case carts for the Operating Room. + Performs all duties related to decontamination, preparation, sterilization/disinfection, and dispatch of instruments, equipment and supplies for the Operating Room, OB, Cardiology, ED/Trauma, and Nursing and ancillary departments. + Demonstrates working knowledge of sterilization techniques. High school Graduate or equivalent. Six months of healthcare experience or currently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program Preferred Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** Employees active in a Central Sterile position, on or before the effective date 12/27/2020, at a healthcare facility, are grandfathered regarding certification and will not need to obtain it unless they move into a different position that would require certification. Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification required.
