Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Job Description

Under general supervision, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and reusable supply items. This role coordinates and prepares necessary supplies and instruments for both emergent and routine surgical cases.

ResponsibilitiesAssemble and wrap instrument sets.Ensure proper use of sterilized sonic cleaners and other related equipment.Retrieve and deliver surgical instruments on a timely basis.Thoroughly inspect instruments to ensure all instruments are clean and in good repair/working order prior to the sterilization process.Decontaminate instruments using proper chemical mixtures and procedures.Participate in the routine cleaning and decontamination of all department work surfaces.Complete sterilization log sheets.Periodically check sterile inventory to remove items where sterilization has expired or packaging has been compromised.Re-sterilize compromised instrument sets.Identify and notify appropriate personnel of inventory or supply shortages.Perform tasks necessary to prepare and maintain accurate Case Carts.Pull needed supplies and instruments for cases.Practice good inventory control techniques by following FIFO (first in, first out) practice.Essential SkillsKnowledge of maintenance and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment.Knowledge of applicable sanitation and hygiene standards.Knowledge of proper safety practices of steam and gas plasma sterilization.Knowledge of simple record-keeping principles.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Effective customer service skills.Ability to read, spell, and do simple math.Good computer skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure.Additional Skills & Qualifications1+ year of experience in sterile processing.Experience working in a facility.Cardiology experience.Strong written, typing, and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of medical terminology.Work Environment

This is a fast-paced environment with a schedule that runs from Monday through Friday, with on-call hours and overtime as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00
