Sterile Processing Technician (Per Diem)

As a Sterile Processing Technician you will decontaminate/reprocess surgical instrumentation; and utilize a working knowledge of a surgical case cart system.
Responsibilities:
Performs duties in support of the Hospital mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner.
Cleans contaminated instruments. Selects correct biocidal process. Remove gross soil manually and operate instrument washers, rinses, and dryers, in accordance with protocols and procedures.
Inspects and lubricates instruments.
Follows departmental dress code. Uses personal protective equipment when appropriate.
Process sterile supplies for Operating Room, Surgicenter and patient care departments.
Prepares instrument trays according to the instrument sheet.
Wraps instruments and trays in accordance with procedures appropriate to the wrapping material. Selects appropriate sterilization process.
Operates steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers and aeration equipment.
Implements sterilization monitoring techniques.
Processes and sterilizes all instrument trays, including specialty trays.
Ensures receipt of proper requisition forms prior to issuance of processed sterile instrument items to nursing and other departments.
Takes inventory and requisitions departmental supplies on a weekly basis, or as necessary.
Participates in the training of new personnel.
Assembles surgical case carts for operating room.
Make rounds to ER, L&D and nursing units to pick up instruments to be reprocessed.
Confers with nursing personnel concerning requests for supplies.​​​​​​
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Central service certification (IAHCSMM).
