PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Cleans, sterilizes, wraps, stores and distributes sterile equipment, supplies and instruments used in patient care. Maintains inventories of sterile supplies, equipment and instruments and provides to appropriate department heads
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executes appropriate methods for sterilization of product manufactured and released by the facility.Prepares, inspects, and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays, or packages of items for sterilization. Collects, cleans, and disinfects patient care equipment and surgical instruments. Reinforces product hygiene standards for the organization, assures sterilization validations are conducted following compliance requirements and industry standards.Maintains inventory levels and accurate recordsSupports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Facility.Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and co workersMaintains and promotes professional competence through continuing education and other learning experiencesAdheres to sterilization process policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires constant and frequent judgment and response. Requires English language skills for interpersonal and telephone communication. Requires high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care activities. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, occasional overhead and low reaching, bending, and the ability to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.

High School Diploma; Associate’s Degree desirable or an equivalent combination of education and experienceEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
