The resort was named the “Jewel of the Desert” since its opening on February 23, 1929. This gorgeous 39-acre property reopened in May 2021 after undergoing a $150 million restoration and has over 700 rooms, over 200,000 square feet in banquet space, and 8 food and beverage outlets (including 2 restaurants, 2 bars, 2 poolside bars, a gelato shop/café, and in-room dining). Hotel Website, Instagram, Facebook Overview As a Stewarding Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and directing stewards and dishwashers to transport and clean cooking utensils and serviceware in order to provide cooks, buspersons and servers with appropriate equipment for the guest dining experience. You will also ensure cleaning of physical surroundings. Specifically, this includes, but is not limited to, the following duties: Supervise, direct, and ensure the scheduling of stewarding staff, including temporary personnel, ensuring that all assigned team members report to work. Coordinate and ensure proper setup and breakdown for all banquet functions, including timely delivery of food and equipment to the designated areas. Monitor supply levels in storage closets, complete requisitions for additional supplies, and submit them to management for approval. Inspect and maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage and back-of-house areas, assigning personnel to rectify any deficiencies promptly. Ensure compliance with State Health regulations, pest control requirements, and hotel sanitation standards across all stewarding operations and work areas. Accommodate and follow up on requests for additional wares or equipment, ensuring quick and courteous service for all banquet and kitchen functions. Oversee the collection and timely return of dirty china, glassware, and silverware to the dishwashing area, ensuring cleanliness and organization throughout the workday. Assist the Assistant Executive Steward in maintaining cleanliness and functionality of both front and back-of-house areas, coordinating deep cleaning tasks and equipment maintenance. Identify and resolve any situations that compromise departmental standards, delegating solutions effectively to maintain service quality. Ensure proper setup and readiness of all functions for the following shift, coordinating with incoming teams to guarantee a smooth transition. Perform general / routine cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisor. Adhere to health standards. Clean and dry floor to avoid slip and fall accidents. This is a full-time position, and you must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Qualifications Required Prior food and beverage / stewarding experience Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced operation Team player Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments, including handling extreme temperature ranges, while maintaining efficiency and attention to detail. Knowledge of sanitation, hygiene, and health department standards, including the ability to maintain proper hygiene, control waste, and ensure food safety compliance. Food Handler's Card Preferred Prior stewarding experience Experience in a luxury hotel Prior leadership experience Bilingual in Spanish ServSafe Food Handler Certification Proficiency in managing inventory, including counting serviceware, requisitioning, storing, and restocking china, silver, glass, and other equipment to maintain par stock levels. Ability to coordinate banquet activities with kitchen and banquet teams, ensuring adequate supply of small wares and proper delivery of food. Expertise in maintaining and operating kitchen equipment, including dish machines, with a focus on minimizing breakage and ensuring proper cleaning supply usage. Experience in controlling theft, waste, and breakage, and maintaining garbage disposal and movement processes throughout the hotel.
