Responsibilities Summary This position supervises, coordinates, and conducts investigations and intelligence gathering pertaining to drugs, gangs, and security threat groups. The position is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and documenting Security Threat Gang (STG) suspects, members, and all other disruptive groups according to facility, state, and organization’s policies and procedures. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Supervises the staff associated with investigating and gathering information on drug, gang, and security threat operations. Oversees the collection of intelligence and information regarding activities of suspected security threat groups at the facility. Ensures that suspected and actual gang members or security threat groups and their activities are properly identified and tracked accordingly. Records and furnishes information as required by the contracting agency regarding security threat group activities. Conducts investigations on allegations of misconduct by facility staff. Completes necessary reports in an efficient and accurate manner. Monitor the recording of inmate telephone calls in accordance with contracting agency’s policies and procedures. Ensures that incoming and outgoing mail is properly inspected as required for facility security. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and regulations for custody, security, and treatment of inmates as they pertain to drugs, investigations, gang activities, and telephone call monitoring. Duties also include the gathering of intelligence, development and maintenance of STG files, and daily, weekly and monthly oral and written reports to the Facility Administrator and the STIU Administrator as required by policy. Develops and delivers training to STIU staff pertaining to drugs, investigations, gang activities, and telephone call monitoring. May conduct special investigations as assigned by management or the contracting agency. May perform as liaison with contracting agency, state or local law enforcement agencies to facilitate their investigations. May participate in contracting agency gang identification and tracking programs. Responds to major institution unusual occurrences as needed. Prepares various records and reports as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Required to possess a valid, active state driver's license. Five (5) years experience working in the security function in a correctional setting required. One (1) year in a position requiring supervisory responsibilities preferred. Work experience in gang activities and investigations in a correctional facility is preferred. College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of correctional program objectives, applicable court orders and laws and have a general understanding of the requirements for managing a secure correctional facility. Must have knowledge of the overall operations of the correctional facility, as well as knowledge of organizational structures and applicable policies and procedures. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to make and implement decisions without assistance. Excellent communications skills. Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department. GEO Secured Services
