Downer’s Transport & Infrastructure business is at the forefront of maintaining road networks across the Trans-Tasman region. With a dynamic, integrated team, we’re tackling a range of projects that require bold solutions, innovative thinking, and the best people in the business – people like YOU.

As an STMS, you’ll play a key role in managing temporary traffic management systems, ensuring road closures and diversions are executed safely and efficiently. You’ll be leading the team with confidence, delivering briefings, and upskilling junior staff.  You will - 

Implement and oversee traffic management plans. Lead toolbox meetings and provide clear job expectations. Train and mentor junior STMS staff. Ensure the safety of the crew, subcontractors, and the public.

This STMS role is a full time-permanent position based in Taupo. The role will be rostered however this could involve occasional weekend, night work and days where you will be on call.

As an STMS, you will be a physically fit and motivated person and will bring with you. 

A valid STMS warrant (be it A/B or Level 1/2) is essential Full Class 2 Drivers License is highly desirable Strong planning skills and the ability to deal with unexpected events  Demonstrated leadership strength with the ability to guide and coach others  Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Flexibility and adaptability is required due to the outdoor nature of the role Show commitment to safe work practises
