Stockroom/Receiving Manager -Physics

The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for an Inventory Line Lead Stockroom/Receiving Manager. This position is a key member of the finance team. With direct line reporting to the Department Business Manager of the department and dotted line reporting to the Fiscal Manager and the Director of Laboratories, the Stockroom/Receiving Manager will oversee the storeroom functions, which will include handling of packages, materials, and equipment.

This Stockroom/Receiving Manager does not directly, or indirectly supervise personnel. This position requires: knowledge of UVA finance and business systems, inventory management, lifting, carrying and general equipment transport.  Necessary training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Manage the inventory in the departmental stockroom, provide customer service in the stockroom, and coordinate and oversee department shipping and receiving. 

Day-to-Day Operations:

Manages the inventory in the departmental stockroom.

Point of contact for all goods arriving and departing from both the physics and high energy physics buildings.

Oversee stockroom inventory, keeping accurate records regarding in-stock inventory and of items purchased by various users.

Routing of incoming and outgoing shipments.

Issue purchase orders, credit card orders and requisitions for supplies, equipment, and services, as well as related quotes and sole source justification forms.

Review purchase orders for accuracy of account information and compliance with cost accounting standards.

Oversee shipping of all FedEx, UPS, and USPS items requiring freight service.

Relocating laboratory equipment as needed.

Additional expectations:

Assist academic faculty, staff, and students with research and instructional activities.

Maintain training and finance responsibilities where appropriate.

Maintain a high standard of customer service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Passing score on test (written and performance) in order to comply with OSHA code 1910.178(a) and operate a powered industrial truck.

Experience: Experience working In a stockroom (ordering, receiving, and distributing Items) or related position in a similar (e.g., Industrial electrical) environment is preferred.

Licensure: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This will require lifting, bending, carrying and use of appropriate lifts, hand trucks and other methods to move and transport heavy items. This position will include some CPU desk work.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience. This is a non-exempt level, benefited position.

Position Compensation Range: $15.37 - $30.74 Hourly

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
