GovCIO is currently hiring for a Storage & Virtualization Infrastructure Engineer to provide extensive Nutanix and VMware expertise on the Air Force BluSCI network. This position is onsite only located on Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities

Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together, so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities, plus to understand and shape requirements.

 

· Serve as the Engineer supporting multiple Nutanix and VMWare based projects and solutions.

· Provide expertise to advance and optimize the environment to transition to a Zero Trust architecture.

· Provide knowledge and recommendations to the customer leadership on virtualization strategies, to include VM right-sizing and I/O performance improvements.

· Develop site resiliency solutions for critical virtual machines running on Nutanix ESXi clusters.

· Plan and conduct Windows file share migrations to Nutanix Files.

· Develop and document white papers in support of strategies.

· Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers.

· Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.

· Tests and configures new hardware and software for the IT infrastructure.

· Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.

· Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.

· Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

 

Qualifications

High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Qualification Skills and Experience

- Clearance Required:  TS/SCI Clearance

· 10+ years of experience supporting complex IT infrastructures within the DoD

· Must have a thorough understanding of hyperconvergence and distributed storage platforms

· Knowledge/Expertise in:

o Nutanix Cloud Platform (AOS, AHV, Files, Volumes, Objects, & Flow Networking)

o VMWare vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, & Virtual Distributed Switching)

 

· Experience utilizing:

o Linux Command Line Interface

o PowerShell/VMware PowerCLI

o Containerized Microservices

o Automation Platforms

o HYCU Backup Solutions

o VDI Solutions (CITRIX, Horizon View, etc)

o Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, & DHCP

o Datacenter and server lifecycle management

 

Required Certifications: (Must have 2 to start and the remainder within 6 months of start)

CompTIA Security+ CE • MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert), LFCA (Linux Foundation Certified IT Associate) and technology specific certifications such as Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)(preferred) or VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)

Posted Pay Range

 

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
