About the Team There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business. About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job Summary This position is responsible for supporting store and field communications. The position will focus on driving initiatives to enhance communication, education and engagement tools for our stores. This position will also be responsible for the day-to-day governance of store and field communications, partnering with business partners to manage, create and edit all field and store messages. We’re looking for a relationship builder who is proficient at storytelling, an expert in written and visual communications and experienced in event planning and project management. Lastly, this position is designed to drive positive business change into the organization and improve the specific function of clear and cohesive communication to the stores and Field which will result in improved execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Supports ongoing management and oversight of store and field-facing communication and cascade strategy. Maintains a variety of communication tools used to convey information to stores and field leadership. Partners with teams from all functions of Field Operations, Store Operations, Services and the Home Office in developing formal communication plans to drive effectiveness and improved productivity and execution in our stores. Partners closely with business partners for content creation, cascade materials development and event support for field and store meetings. Ensures thorough review of all store communication content for capacity impact, accuracy, timeliness, relevancy, voice and clarity to drive improved execution. Drive communication strategies to support all business needs. Develops and maintains communication standards, templates and channels for all store and field communications to ensure consistent messaging across all channels. Maintains the entire policy and procedure portfolio alongside team; Partners with business partners for all updates and facilitates the communication of changes to the field and Home Office. Reviews current communication processes and practices, identify improvement opportunities, manage timelines to improve or change current processes and practices and tracks success of processes. Provides day to day support of for the entire field, including answering questions for all processes noted above, solving issues as they arise, facilitating home office and store support. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field. 5+ years of experience in a Communications, Marketing or similar role. Experience in a high-growth retail environment preferred, but not required. Experience with Visio, SharePoint and Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator preferred. Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Required Skills Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and report writing/structuring skills. Must be able to communicate with all levels of leadership articulating business needs and solutions, Must be highly organized and have proficient attention to detail. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to interpret and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where only limited standardization exists and/or where schedules are eminently modified. Must maintain a sense of urgency and agility/flexibility, able to more quickly between strategy and tactics. Communicate effectively, persuasively and tactfully in both verbal and written forms. Conduct meetings, create presentations and facilitate communications in a clear, concise and positive manner. Plan, direct and prioritize multiple projects and work objectives to ensure successful implementation. Resourceful and enthusiastic. Able to work well under pressure with short timelines. Ability to work well in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic, results-oriented and proactive. Excellent time management, project management and organization skills.
