Store Operations Process Improvement Internship

Responsibilities The Store Operations Process Improvement Intern will identify opportunities to improve an existing store process, through Lean Six Sigma (LSS), an industry standard methodology. LSS utilizes the DMAIC method to Define the issue, measure its current performance, analyze opportunities, Improve the process and control the new process with data. The intern will work closely with the Simplify Team Manager to learn about a chosen store process and how to apply this problem-solving tool in a real-world scenario. A successfully improved process will require less effort and time to perform the task within the stores. Intern will work through all 5 steps of the DMAIC framework as the basis for a capstone presentation to leadership at the end of the internship. Utilize the DMAIC method from Lean Six Sigma to improve an existing store process. You will be assigned a leader provided topic/process will act as the cornerstone for the intern’s final project focusing heavily on Defining the issue, Measuring the current state and Analyzing opportunities to make the process better. Application of Improvement and Controls in the DMAIC methodology will be strictly theoretical. Create and or update documentation to support the process including, process maps and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Work with the Workforce Management Team to understand how changes to the process will impact store labor. Work cross functionally to understand how upstream processes impact the assigned store process. Research and prepare an intern project on a topic determined by Blain’s Corporate Store Operations Team. The final project will be presented to Blain’s Store Operations Team and Blain’s Senior Leadership. Demonstrate awareness and compliance with Loss Prevention and safety policies and/or procedures. Follow Internship Timeline as designated in the Internship Orientation. Qualifications Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, preferably in Business, Retail Management or a related field.
