Job Overview

The Associate, Store Planning, plays an important role in our team, providing leadership and design management support to Bloomingdale's Senior Design Director. They oversee diverse Bloomingdale's Store Environment projects, including New Store Capital Projects, Renovations, Expansions, and vendor shop design reviews. The Associate effectively leverages their Project Planner direct report's contributions and leads initiatives for fixtures, services, Minimum Standard Upgrades, and Customer Facing Projects, focusing on sales opportunities and enhancing the customer journey. 

 

What You Will Do

Lead in programming and block plan development, ensuring early integration of Bloomingdale's plan principles and architecture standardsCollaborate in scope development and budgeting exercises to achieve both the desired shopping experience and business expectationsEfficiently onboard and manage project consultants, ensuring they exceed performance expectations on schedule and within budgetUtilize creative knowledge and professional expertise to produce well-thought-out, accurate, and concise project documentation conveying design intentManage the design and planning coordination role during the capital project post-bid and construction phasesProvide timely, accurate, and transparent communication on project status, including meeting minutes, tracking updates, schedules, and setting up required meetings with partner groupsOrganize, manage, develop, and coordinate all plans, fixture requirements, and data reports for assigned projectsCollaborate with Store Environment partners to gather necessary information for scope and block plans, merchandise flow, and fixture plansDevelop presentation-quality plans adhering to Store Environment and building code guidelines for distribution to senior managementHandle multiple projects simultaneously, reviewing final drawings for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to Store Planning & Project Delivery guidelinesTrain others on Store Planning & Project Delivery project and construction document procedures when applicableProactively identify and initiate best practice processesOversee and direct consultants on all project planning issues, ensuring satisfaction of scope, schedule, and project deliverable goals.

 

Skills You Will Need

Leadership and Design Management: Effective leadership and design management support for diverse retail environment projects, including New Store Capital Projects and vendor shop design reviews.

Project Planning and Coordination: Proficient in leading programming, block plan development, and collaboration for achieving desired shopping experiences and business expectations. Simultaneous handling of multiple projects, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills, providing timely updates, and maintaining transparent communication practices.

Strategic Thinking and Flexibility: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically, coupled with flexibility to meet department and company needs.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Tools Suite.

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture preferred. 6+ years of interior space planning and project management experience, preferably with at least 3 years within retail store environments.Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
