Summary About the Position: **This is an open continuous announcement. The initial cutoff date for referral is 14 days after the date and additional referral lists will be created as vacancies are available. This announcement may be used to fill full-time or part-time work schedules** Responsibilities As a Store Worker, you will receive supplies, equipment and perishable, semi-perishable and non-perishable resale items in the receiving area of the commissary. Use a pallet jack or other similar device to remove items from the truck or van; verify shipments by checking shipping documents, reporting discrepancies and damage. Place clearly identified stock inappropriate temporary or permanent storage locations. Replenish depleted stock with incoming items or by obtaining stock from storage area and transporting to shelving or display area. Affix selling price labels generated by computers in a neat and orderly manner, rotating on a basis of age and freshness of stock. Clean up broken and spilled items, clean any item(s) in display cases that require cleaning prior to stocking. Clean shelves/display areas on a regular basis. Perform all sanitation tasks in accordance with DeCA directives. May be required to perform Sales Store Checker duties, be able to operate an electronic check-out system. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Store Worker without more than normal supervision, performing common tasks such as assists in inventories of stock, and place items in stockroom, work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. In wage examining, there is no length of experience and/or training required to be eligible. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to do the work as listed above in the screen out element. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Work requires continuous walking, standing, bending, and/or stooping, and moving of arms to fill shelves, counters, and to build displays. Frequently lifts or moves heavy boxes or crates weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, with assistance, lifts items weighing over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Most of the work is performed in the store display areas which are will lighted and maintained at a comfortable temperature. The store aisles are often crowded with customers and grocery carts. When working in the storage area or loading dock, the incumbent may be exposed to hot or cold weather or damp or drafty conditions. May be exposed to differences in temperatures in storing or obtaining items in refrigerated rooms. There is a danger of minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and bruisers or heat sealer burns. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Direct deposit of pay is required. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250. For positions in a foreign country, that country's laws or international agreements may have a direct impact on the ability of an employee's same sex domestic partner or spouse to accompany the employee and receive certain benefits. This is a(n) 15 Career Field position. The initial length of this overseas tour is 36 months. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
