The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia has an immediate opening for a Storeroom/Warehouse Supervisor. We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and motivated person to join our team. The Storeroom/Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a storeroom operation including responsibility for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Maintenance, and Safety performance, to meet SDI’s world class standards. Reporting directly to this position are purchasing and receiving clerks, warehouse clerks, inventory/counter clerks.
Responsibilities The Storeroom/Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of a storeroom operation including responsibility for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Maintenance, and Safety performanceReports directly to the Manager of EngineeringThis position will be responsible for continuous improvement, training, development, mentoring, all personnel issues and performance-evaluation of subordinatesNegotiate/oversee contracts and purchase agreements for stock and consumable items used in the facilityWill be responsible for setting priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired resultsPromotion of the development of people through continued education, employee involvement and increased responsibility with goal setting to meet standardsEnsure best practices for cost control and inventory management are maintainedDevelopment of a job kitting strategy and process through collaboration with maintenance planners in order to support improved efficiency in execution of planned work in all areas of the plantCreating and ensuring execution of preventive inventory care routines, such as motor turning, to ensure suitability of parts for usageDetermination of inventory stock levels, in partnership with procurement, based on criticality criteria, movement history, lead times, and vendor recommendationsProficient with computers and strong written and verbal communication skillsAll other tasks as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or 5 (plus) years of experience in Logistics or Supply ChainStrong knowledge and progressively responsible job-related experience in at least one of the following: Material Control, Purchasing, Parts Distribution Operations, Inventory Control, Manufacturing Operations, and Traffic SystemsThe ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the timeWorking knowledge of mechanical/industrial products and good analytical skillsStrong interpersonal skills to develop a cooperate work relationship with employees and vendors both internally and externallyPrevious leadership experience leading large teamsPrevious experience with inventory database systems, setup, management, and use
