Summit Design and Engineering is seeking a Stormwater Planning and Compliance Specialist II in North Carolina. This position requires a minimum of three years of stormwater and erosion and sediment control industry related experience and will include, but may not be limited to, the following duties:\n
Responsibilities\n\nCompletes field inspections, and reviews within the timeframes.\nCompletes and submits required reports within the timeframes. \nMaintains necessary StormWater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) documentation including reports, associated environmental and water quality permits, and approved plan mark ups to reflect field conditions.\nCompletes sediment loss reviews and supporting documentation.\nAdvises clients and team members of appropriate strategies to support compliance with regulations and permit conditions.\nCoordinates with project teams on a variety of tasks, including completion of field assessments; identification of necessary local, state and federal environmental permitting needs; and in-depth reviews of necessary project documentation.\nInterfaces with various state and delegated local programs to submit permit applications, obtain approvals, and prepare responses in a timely manner.\nEmploys strong technical\/scientific writing skills to prepare technical documents and permit applications.\nSupports preparation of technical reports, forms, and related documents for permit submission, including, but not limited to, grading permit application packages, NCDEMLR e-NOIs and e-NOTs, and local program requirements.\nWorks with other team members both in-person and remotely.\nOther duties as required.\n\n
Required Skills and Qualifications:\n\nBachelor's degree in environmental science and\/or technologies, natural resource management, planning, ecology or related field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. \nProficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Powerpoint and familiarity with ArcPro GIS, and\/or other GIS programs.\nAbility to work independently and clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.\nKnowledge of regulations and permitting requirements for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, stormwater and erosion & sediment control, and buffers, streams and wetlands.\nAbility to obtain knowledge of regulations and permitting requirements pertaining to threatened and endangered species, cultural resources and architectural history, and the National Environmental Policy Act.\nMust be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day when needed.\nMust have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance, and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks.\nMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when needed.\nAbility to work outside in various weather conditions.\nAbility to utilize maps, plans and navigation tools and software to located project sites and on-site BMPs, etc. \nValid Driver's license with a good driving record and ability to drive.\nTravel is required as necessary and as needed by project or client commitments.\n\n
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:\n\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, notes, standards and specifications for any type of construction project.\nAbility to read and interpret permit requirements and all related project documentation.\nExperience in, and the ability to conduct, field assessments, delineations, inspections and reviews as assigned.\nExperience in and the ability to draft and issue detailed and thorough technical reports and summaries of field investigations and reviews. Ability to maintain and update additional related project documentation.\n\n\nSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with a team.\n\n
Certifications (Preferred):\n\nCertified Erosion, Sediment and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI), Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) or equivalent or ability to obtain a national certification within 120 days of employment \nNCDOT Level II Erosion & Sediment Control\n\n
