Strategic Business Development Intern

Mission

This position offers challenging assignments to graduate students, enhancing their understanding of talent acquisition strategies, employee onboarding, guest experience research, and managing incentive programs. This position will be responsible for supporting the hiring managers of Bi-State Development’s (BSD) Tourism Innovation Division (Gateway Arch and Riverboats at the Gateway Arch) with on-going recruitment initiatives, new hire onboarding and assisting with employee relations matters as needed. This is a paid internship which varies from $18-$20/hour based on education level. 

Essential Outcomes

Assist with the execution of recruitment strategies and tactics for part-time and seasonal positions at the Gateway Arch and Riverboats.Review all applications for seasonal & part-time positions & screen all applications for initial selection criteria (math assessment, writing ability, & schedule availability). Refer screened applications to appropriate hiring managers. Correspond with candidates about their applications including help with troubleshooting.Maintain accurate and consistent records of all candidates to be hired and new employee data.In accordance with BSD policies & procedures, submit & review all background check results for candidates to be hired.Work with Safety Department to ensure that pre-employment testing policies & procedures are followed according to BSD policies and procedures.Assist with employee onboarding process including facilitating new employee orientation for the part-time and seasonal positions at the Gateway Arch and Riverboats.Assist with on-going guest experience research for the Gateway Arch and Riverboats. Analyze results and present reports to be shared with Gateway Arch and Riverboat Management.Assist with the management of incentive programs.Participate in team and departmental meetings.

Able to quickly and organically build relationships at all levels cross-functionally.Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and sound judgment.Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills (in person and electronically).Ability to be highly organized, energetic and articulate with exceptional attention to detail.Must demonstrate initiative, flexibility and good follow-up skills.Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a team.Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

Must possess a reliable form of transportation.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office SuiteMust be able to work 15-20 hours a week. Taking into account class schedule, must be flexible with hours/days.Currently pursuing a Master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related field.

Enrolled in a Master’s program.

First or Second year in a Master’s program.

Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, or a related field.
