Strategic Evaluation and Analysis Intern

Position Summary:

The Strategic Evaluation and Analysis (SEA) Intern will provide support across the SEA practice. The SEA Intern will be involved in the following practice activities (non-exclusive): a) providing general analytical and administrative support to the SEA practice; b) supporting project implementation by contributing to research, quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, data visualization and reporting; c) supporting project delivery, business development and thought leadership through research into country contexts and pressing issues in international development; and d) conducting business intelligence research about upcoming opportunities and partners. The Internship will last approximately three months, with the possibility for extension based on performance and the business needs of the SEA team. Internships allow for a maximum commitment of 35 hours per week with a flexible schedule and is presently remote. This is a paid position, and we anticipate the candidate starting soonest after presenting an offer. The selected candidate must be based from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan (DMV) area throughout the duration of the internship. This role can come in person at our Courthouse Office, but otherwise can be remote out of their residence in the DMV.

 

Responsibilities:

Support the SEA practice overall business strategy, including attending SEA meetings, taking notes, conducting research on potential clients or opportunities, and editing products. Research potential clients and partners as part of business intelligence efforts. Identify potential candidates for MSI Headquarters and field office positions. Review and synthesize business development forecasts, project reports or academic and grey literature. Analyze data collected by field teams, including interview notes or survey data. Review, revise, and edit short research reports prepared by teams conducting field research. Prepare data visualizations to incorporate into project deliverables or thought leadership projects.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a social science discipline, such as political science, sociology, or anthropology, required. Experience conducting or managing social science research or analyzing social science research conducted by others, including surveys, key informant interviews, or literature reviews. Experience using statistical skills is desired, but not required. Strong writing and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Familiarity with SPSS, Stata or R are preferred. Fluency in English required. Strong French, Spanish or Arabic language capabilities would be a plus.

Pay Transparency Statement:

The compensation for our internship program is $17.50 per hour.
