The position is a US Field based role. Preference in the Southeastern United States. The Strategic Market Director (SMD) Federal Channel is responsible for customer facing interactions across Veteran Integrated Services Network (VISN) to achieve sales growth and drive utilization through optimal formulary access for the entire NA Pharmaceutical portfolio of products. The candidate must identify compliant business opportunities to ensure open access to the military population we serve, through effective collaboration with key stakeholders across these VISN’s. This includes but is not limited to VISN Pharmacy Executives, key thought leaders which span clinical, operational and population health stakeholders as well as, the MCO customers who contract with the government for community access outside the government facilities. This individual will negotiate terms and conditions of contracts to provide access for products using approved clinical and economic value propositions and marketing resources to obtain favorable formulary status. The SMD navigates the complex federal health system marketplace and works across brands with their deployed federal field leadership teams to achieve maximum account penetration to increase scope and areas of influence within assigned accounts. This may include Health Systems/IDNs, GPOs and Government healthcare (VA/DOD/PHS/TPA) as well as their respective Managed Care Organizations. The SMD provides total Janssen Portfolio leadership in this Enterprise Account by organizing the local One Janssen account team and leading the One Janssen business planning and execution to drive incremental portfolio results across all Janssen franchises in these most important VISN regions. This individual will also interact with VESE on a regular basis to utilize their expertise and support to meet customer needs in assigned VISN accounts. This individual will serve as the internal voice of our Enterprise Customers and collaborate with internal partners such as Sr. Management, Brand Marketing, Contracting, Sales and Finance to incorporate customer concerns and interests into executable brand and contract strategies. The Federal SMD will also serve as a resource in the role of expert to all internal partners on the evolving business models (i.e., value-based healthcare economics, payment, and delivery models) and market trends of the Federal health care environment. All responsibilities of the SMD are carried out with strict adherence to the J&J Credo and HCC guidelines. This individual must be able to demonstrate from big picture orientation as well as analytical capabilities and great attention to detail. They must possess outstanding written and oral communications skills and be able to present in group and one-on-one settings, using approaches that highlight the most pertinent information for stakeholders and spur stakeholder actions. **Qualifications** REQUIREMENTS + BA/BS Degree required. Advanced degree (i.e. MBA) preferred. + Six or more years of healthcare industry experience required. + Experience working in Government/Federal accounts, Integrated Delivery Networks/Health Systems, GPOs, MCO’s required. + Knowledge of formulary processes, health care contractual negotiations and implementation, and healthcare industry trends required. + Ability to understand multiple disease states, therapeutic areas, clinical and pharmacoeconomic data as it relates to the assigned product areas required. + Valid driver's license issued in the state of residence and clean driving record required. + This position requires significant travel (up to 50%, depending on where candidates resides) including required meetings and training, overnight and possibly weekends. This position is a field-based position, covering the United States Public Health Service as well as Veteran Integrated Service Networks (VISN. PREFERRED + Five or more years of sales, marketing, and contracting in the Federal Channel or related experience is highly preferred. + Five or more years of pharmaceutical, medical/surgical or device sales management experience is highly preferred. + Prior military experience and account management with familiarity/experience with VA Medical Centers and or institutional business customers is also highly preferred but not required + Strong example of leading without authority and leading in a matrix environment a must The anticipated base pay range for this position is $131,000 to $226,550. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
