Strategic Project Manager (R&D)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager / Engagement Manager to drive strategic projects from conception to business value realization. The role will support a range of strategic initiatives, primarily R&D derived (non-IT) including guiding new process and product technologies from laboratory proof-of-concept to large capital project execution at manufacturing plant; leading external Business Development efforts for new products and new markets; supporting critical internal optimization and/or operations excellence initiatives and taking on project general manager responsibilities temporarily and as-needed for project goals to stay on-track.

The role will require cross-functional engagement with Manufacturing, Finance, Supply Chain, Corporate Engineering, and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project management methodologies, KPIs, business case development, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record of success in managing complex projects within the building materials industry or broader industrial manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties

Lead and manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, justification, execution, monitoring, and closure

Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets

Perform market sizing and fit assessments

Develop robust business cases for resource and capital investment

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors, to ensure project objectives are met

Identify and manage project risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies

Regularly communicate project progress, challenges, and successes to executive stakeholders

Develop and track KPIs to ensure realization of business value

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards

Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes

Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in roofing and construction


Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Economics, or similar field

5+ years of experience in project management and/or management consulting, preferably with experience in capital project execution within building materials or manufacturing

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Stage gate); PMP certification preferred

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; strong team player

Proficient in project management software tools

Experience with R&D projects is a plus


Travel Requirements: 10-20%
