About the Opportunity:

Overview:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading and managing the strategic sourcing activities for indirect spend categories. This role involves identifying and implementing cost-effective procurement strategies, optimizing supplier relationships, and ensuring that non-product-related expenditures are aligned with business goals and objectives. The position requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:

Partner with the appropriate executive and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for various indirect categories (e.g., IT, marketing services, travel, HR services, facilities management, etc.).Lead supplier selection and negotiation processes, ensuring optimal pricing, quality, and service levels.Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring continuous improvement and value generation.

Cost Optimization & Savings Initiatives:

Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements, supplier consolidation, and strategic negotiation.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive cost reduction initiatives and achieve savings targets.

Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis:

Continuously monitor market conditions, industry trends, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing strategies.Conduct market research to assess potential suppliers and opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with internal business units (e.g., finance, HR, legal, Marketing, etc.) to understand their needs and ensure sourcing strategies align with business goals.Provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on sourcing best practices and supplier performance.

Contract Management:

Oversee the negotiation and execution of contracts with suppliers, ensuring that terms and conditions protect the organization’s interests.Ensure compliance with corporate policies and legal requirements.

Risk Management:

Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, supplier performance, and contract compliance.Develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply for critical indirect services.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

Track and report on the performance of suppliers and sourcing initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership.Use data-driven insights to evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Process Improvement & Best Practices:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing processes, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and compliance.Stay updated on best practices in sourcing, procurement technology, and trends to enhance overall sourcing effectiveness.

All other related responsibilities, projects, and assignments.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. An MBA or certifications in related disciplines (e.g., CPSP, Six Sigma, ISO 9001) are a plus.

Experience & Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar position with a focus on indirect strategic sourcing is required. Experience working for a manufacturer of durable or industrial goods is a plus.Specifically, strong experience in managing indirect categories such as IT, facilities, HR, Marketing, and professional services is required.Must possess strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and strategy development process with the ability to implement and maintain these processes for indirect spend category.Must possess expert-level skills in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost optimization.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions required. The ability to evaluate scenarios, data, information, and processes to assess issues and develop strategies to improve outcomes will be required to be successful in this role.Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Demonstrating a high level of proficiency in conflict resolution, meaning the ability to resolve conflict constructively and diplomatically to preserve the integrity of the working environment, will be required to be successful in this position.Must have strong technical capabilities, with a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. Experience working with enterprise resource planning systems, such as Oracle, required. Adeptness with office automation tools preferred.The ability to work independently, prioritize work based on the needs of the business, and manage multiple stakeholders is necessary to be successful in this role.Strong decision-making skills, meaning making informed and timely decisions in both clear and ambiguous situations, will be required to be successful in this role.A high level of proficiency in change management, meaning the ability to adapt to and support changes in industry standards, technology, organizational priorities etc., will be required to be successful in this position.This position may require travel up to 20% of the time, depending on the needs of the business, via both auto and air, domestically and internationally.

At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. The salary range for this position, intended for U.S. applicants, is $90,500 - $132,200 annually.The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities. The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Rosemont, IL and the actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.This position is eligible to participate in Life Fitness / Hammer Strength’s annual Manager Incentive Plan to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of bonus varies based on company and individual performance goals and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
