Strategic Sourcing & Procurement - Product Lifecycle Management Project Manager

Introduction to the Job

A challenging project management opportunity for professionals with experience in new product introductions, engineering, supply chain, or manufacturing, preferably in high-tech / low-volume environments. Fast market introduction of ASML’s newest technologies requires concurrent engineering by all disciplines. The Product Lifecycle Management Project Lead, New Product Introduction (PLM PL) fulfills this need by bridging the gap between new product development and supply chain volume operations.

ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market, and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

Roles and Responsibilities

As PLM Project Manager, you determine and manage the time to market, supply chain management specifications at optimal costs whilst staying agile to business opportunities.

You are responsible to define, secure, and monitor the supply chain deliverables in the Product Generation Process (new builds, installs, upgrades, and service products) reporting into the ASML cross-sector project cluster team. This includes the introduction, industrialization and phase-out strategies of new products as well as engineering sustaining activities on existing products. As key representative of the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) department in the Product Generation Process (PGP) you are accountable for and first point of contact for supply chain operations aspects and related issues.

To achieve this, you will be using your unique mix of technical, creative, and interpersonal skills as you guide and coordinate your team of sourcing and supply chain professionals.

Main Responsibilities:

Manage supply chain requirements, deliverables, specifications, and risks through key decision (KD) gates of ASML’s Product Generation Process.

Represent SS&P department in the cross-sector project core teams.

Manage concurrent supply chain introduction of new product designs in the global supply chain from technical feasibility towards ramp and release-for-volume including the critical path of Bill of Material readiness, technical documentation readiness, and material availability towards prototype, pilot, and volume systems and spares.

Manage and de-risk material availability balanced against customer service levels, inventory, quality, costs, and risks: Identify bottle necks, prepare decisions, and take actions towards engineering, suppliers, factories, and field service to manage the critical path both for time-to-market and ramp.

Define and manage the supply chain management requirements during product generation. Ensure all requirements are fulfilled in product designs and supply chain targets/KPIs verified by release for volume.

Provide integrated planning (activities, milestones, resources) throughout all project phases towards BL / PDM / Procurement / D&E (SCE) / GLS (LSM).

Signal financial consequences of supply chain resources (tools, facilities, manpower) and supplier cost (CoG roadmaps, Process NRE, and Tooling).

Oversee cost-down projects from the initial ideation stage to x-sector approval, producet development and execution in a timely and efficient manner.

To achieve this, the Project Manager works within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team within SS&P. The mission of PLM is to manage successful ASML product roadmaps into optimal supply chain solutions. As such, PLM is responsible for securing material availability for ASML’s new systems during proto phase, early shipping and initial ramp up. This involves the planning and release of new and changed materials throughout the supply chain from system development & engineering through suppliers and manufacturing to customers. In a fast-paced industry, PLM is involved in system development from day one – defining logistics requirements and identifying potential risks in suppliers’ design and production processes. In the spirit of concurrent engineering, this happens while the system is still being developed, so specifications, timing, and resources are constantly subject to change. Hence PLM drives timely delivery of Bill of Materials and technical documentation during development, and ensures supply chain and in-field infrastructures can handle the new products. It also manages the highly dynamic materials critical path for new products to maximize transparency and minimize delays.
