Key Responsibilities:
The Office of the COO function forms a key part of the Group COO organisation, supporting Group Operations across the UK and Europe.
We are currently looking for a Strategy and Operations Manager to work in our Office of the COO to partner 3 of the Operations functions: Architecture; Enterprise Change; and Procurement & Workplace Management.
Reporting to the Head of the Office of the COO but aligned to the 3 specific functions, the Strategy and Operations Manager will ensure these functions run efficiently across a broad range of responsibilities including financial management, resource management, risk & control, governance, reporting, communications and projects supporting the development of the functions.
The role holder will be a key member of the senior leadership teams (SLT) of the 3 functions and responsible for driving strategy for the functional leads & delivering improvement projects across Group Operations.
Performance Objectives:
Collaborate closely with the heads of Architecture, Enterprise Change, and Procurement/ & Workplace Management to successfully execute the departments’ strategic vision, goals, and initiativesOversee daily operations in partnership with the departments’ SLT to ensure the department operates efficiently. Optimise processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practicesPartner with Finance to oversee financial management: effectively manage the operating budgets, forecasting process & headcount trackingImplement a workforce strategy to support organisational goals and drive effective resource managementTrack and manage risks, audit findings and controls in line with corporate risk appetiteDevelop and maintain executive-level reports and dashboards to offer transparency into the departments’ performanceManage relevant communications including leadership offsites, town hall meetings and use of other channels to drive employee engagementOversee cross-Operations strategic initiatives from development through successful execution, following practices set by the Office of the COO.Support delivery of key projects within Architecture, Enterprise Change, and Procurement & Workplace ManagementSkills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
Proven track record of senior leadership in business management within a related industry with experience in financial management, resource management, risk management, reporting & communicationsExceptional stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with operations leaders and key stakeholders in the businessHighly organised with excellent analytical skills and the ability to leverage data and technology for operational assessment and risk managementAbility to interpret and understand financial data using Excel skillsStrong interpersonal skills, coupled with proven experience working in a matrix management structureExcellent communication skills, including facilitation, consultation, negotiation and persuasionDelivery focused with high attention to detail and ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required levels of qualityDesirable:
Experience of delivering projects or process improvement initiatives in a matrix management structureSolid understanding of supporting business functions (HR, Finance, Compliance, Risk)Knowledge and technical understanding of general insurance / Speciality insurance marketWhat We Offer
