Work Location Springfield Campus Department Biology Hiring Range 12.75 Department/Employer Operating Hours Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM How many hours per week are required? 6-12 hours per week Description of Primary Duties THIS IS A SUMMER WORK STUDY POSITION.
Student will be aiding in data collection and analysis in laboratory and sometimes in field (streams within 1 hour drive of Springfield); Sorting aquatic invertebrate samples and identifying specimens at coarse taxonomic level (with possibility to learn more about taxonomic identification if interested); Cleaning and organizing laboratory work spaces and equipment; Preparing insect specimens for DNA extraction; Assisting and collaborating with researchers, especially graduate students, on various research projects; Preparing and submitting order forms for lab and field supplies; Occasionally assisting with class field trips and/or lab setup for Stream Ecology and Aquatic Entomology classes. Required Qualifications THIS IS A SUMMER WORK STUDY POSITION.
Interest in research experience and the process of science is a must. Reliability, ability to be focused and have strong attention to detail, sense of humor, willingness to work as a key part of a research team, some degree of proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
