Stress Engineer
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in aerospace mechanical and structural engineering design and analysis, with a focus on fatigue and fracture analysis. This role involves developing and documenting detailed mechanical and structural designs and analyses in support of drawing release or aircraft repairs. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and document detailed mechanical and structural designs and analyses, including free body diagrams, internal or external loading, shear and moment diagrams, and calculation of internal stresses.Conduct fatigue and fracture analysis to ensure the structural integrity and durability of aerospace components.Provide analyses in support of Material Review Board (MRB), modifications and installations, Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP), and fleet management activities.Perform classical static strength hand analysis, fatigue analysis, and generate and review drawings.Conduct pipe stress analysis of systems using AutoPipe in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code.Model piping systems to verify flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.Collaborate with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver quality and cost-effective designs.Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.Support Bechtel Construction during the project transition from Engineering.Solve assembly problems, develop fixtures, and perform tolerance analysis.Present and explain structural issues and solutions to internal team members concisely.Mentor less experienced personnel and handle multiple tasks in parallel.Knowledge & Skills:
Proficient in parametric design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural design, classical static strength hand analysis, fatigue analysis, and fracture mechanics.Experience with Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), nonstandard repair, equipment and antenna installations, and air loads.Excellent communication and analytical skills.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Good knowledge of ASME B31.3 and other relevant industry piping codes and standards.Recent hands-on experience with AutoPipe for pipe stress analysis.Experience with Dynamic Analysis.Previous Bechtel and/or NASA project experience.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 6+ years of direct experience in a relevant engineering activity.Aerospace mechanical and structural engineering design and analysis experience.Aircraft MRO and Repair Depo experience.Rotary Wing (Helicopter) experience is a plus.Active Secret Clearance is a plus.About Actalent
