Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Structural Area Business Class Lead,we'll count on you to:
Lead by example:Represent HDR and BES as a leader - with a Client/Customer service mentalityWork hand in hand with the Managing Principal and fellow area business class leads, as a member of the area BES leadership team to facilitate the successful operation of the groupMotivate individuals and the Business Class sectionExert a positive influence in the work environment and help to maintain team moraleEngage with fellow "Area Business Class Leads" throughout BES and build a community of practice around technical excellence and project delivery for respective business class. Work collaboratively to satisfy and support enterprise needsWork closely with the Regional Business Class leaders to align culture of technical excellence with Structural sectionSupervise staff:Manage staffaddress personnel issuesdelegate responsibilitieshire/fire staffstrategic planning of business class group at the area levelRecruit and develop talentMentor staff and conduct annual review and outlook conversations for staffProvide technical and professional guidanceHelp staff with professional development and career plans/growthWork delegation and staffingCoordinate workload needs with Project ManagersWork with Structural Team Leads to assign staff to projects and align workload with project schedules, staff availability, and staff expertiseCoordinate with the Managing Principal for workshare outside the area, as requiredMonitor utilization performance vs goals for staff within the Structural sectionProject delivery accountability and enforcementTake an active role in monitoring project budgets and schedules within the Structural sectionCommunicate with staff within the Structural section and Project Managers to ensure project info is clearly understood by all:ScopeBudgetDeliverablesProgrammeForecastingAssist the Managing Principal in determining short term, mid term, and long term forecasting for respective business class.Assist with project proposals related to the Structural business class.Technical DeliveryTake an active role in monitoring technical delivery within the Structural sectionCommunicate with team leads and staff within section to promote quality, consistency and working to deadlinesLiaise with Digital Area Business Class Lead to ensure workflow processes for interfacing between the Structural section and Digital teams are understood and adhered toPreferred QualificationsActively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand#LI-BM1
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field10 years of experience Committed to quality, improvement and HDR valuesMaintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience experienced in development and management of diverse teams Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class effortsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
